Overview

School Age Program Aide at the Cheyenne YMCA

 

The YMCA's Youth Programs are growing fast and we are seeking outstanding staff to support our expanding school-age department and grow into leadership roles.

 

Shifts/Hours: Program hours are between 1:30-6:30pm M-F and between 7:00 am-6:30pm on days when school is out for full day camp. We prefer staff to be available at least 3 consistent days per week, but we are also looking for substitutes.

 

Salary range: $11.50-13.00 per hour based on experience, availability, state licensing guidelines and ability to drive our minibuses for student pick up at local schools. This position is part time, year-round with opportunities for full time for summer season. In addition, we offer a +10% differential for bilingual staff (Spanish and English).

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Under direct supervision of another staff person, the Program Aides works as part of our site team to ensure a safe and challenging environment for our school age participants implementing our core values, gym and group games, arts and crafts.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  • Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents and records
  • Be on time for all shifts; be flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days.

Requirements/Certifications: Applicants must be committed to being a positive role model with youth. Must have the ability to work well on a team, communicate easily with youth, parents and colleagues and be committed to implementing YMCA programming and fun. Additional qualification includes:

  1. Must be a minimum of 16 years old
  2. Knowledge of age-appropriate practices and experience working with children, preferably school aged Maturity to make practical decisions under the direct supervision of other staff
  3. Ability to work well in a team, communicate easily with youth, parents and colleagues and be committed to implementing YMCA programming and fun.
  4. Bilingual preferred, not required
  5. Applicants must be committed to being a positive role model with youth.

Part-Time employees also receive paid sick time at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
