Overview

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.  Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Sr. Aquatics Director is responsible for staff supervision, staff training, facility scheduling in aquatics, and operational management at the Boulder YMCA. The Sr. Aquatics Director will also oversee program development, and off-site programming and manage promotional activities which attract program participants. Additional responsibilities will include developing and administering association wide aquatics training standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote high quality aquatic program and membership growth for the YMCA. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Facilitates rental agreements for pool usage of both internal and external usage groups.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets and takes appropriate action to meet or exceed fiscal objectives.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises aquatics staff and volunteers. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Determines and maintains appropriate first aid supplies in the facilities. Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned.
  • Works closely with the marketing department to ensure all marketing deadlines are met and initiatives are successful.
  • Coordinates special events and activities. Fulfill association-wide responsibilities.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, association wide year-round training plan for designated areas of focus related to lifeguards, swim instructors, trainers, and water exercise staff to include prerequisites and opportunities for National YMCA certifications.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in related field or four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.

 

2. Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.

 

3. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.

 

4. Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.

 

5. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

 

6. YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.

 

7. Certifications:

  • CPR and First Aid
  • Lifeguard, CPR, AED, First Aid and O2 certification
  • Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred
  • Certified pool Operator preferred
  • Swim Lesson Instructor preferred

Posted Salary Range

USD $60,000.00 - USD $65,000.00 /Yr.
