Overview

Summer camp is more than just fun; it's an opportunity for growth, adventure, and lasting memories! As a Program Leader at our YMCA of Northern Colorado Ultimate Adventure Camp, you'll lead teens on a variety of adventures and field trips. We're seeking enthusiastic, motivated individuals who are passionate about creating a memorable camp experience for teens. As a Program Leader, you will help foster a positive and inclusive environment where campers from 6th-9th grade explore new activities and develop valuable life skills. You’ll also have the chance to guide teens on field trips to exciting destinations like Elitch Gardens, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake, and more! This is a summer of adventure—and it’s waiting for you to lead it!

 

● Training: Required training will take place from May 19-23, 2025.
● No Weekends: Enjoy your weekends free!
● Seasonal Position: May 27th through August 8th, with opportunities to extend into school year programs (before and after school care).

Responsibilities

● Lead & Supervise: Take the lead in facilitating and supervising a variety of engaging activities for teens. Ensure a fun, safe, and inclusive experience, whether in small groups or large activities.
● Facilitate Activities & Adventures: Lead activities such as outdoor games, arts and crafts, team-building exercises, and adventures like hiking, rock climbing, and water play. You'll also help organize and participate in field trips to local attractions like Water World, sporting events, and more.
● Ensure Safety: Follow YMCA program standards, including safety protocols, cleanliness standards, and emergency procedures.
● Support Social-Emotional Growth: Use your leadership to weave in social-emotional learning and life skills development. Guide campers in leadership lessons, teamwork, problem-solving, and positive interactions with peers.
● Provide Leadership & Guidance: Support campers and staff, offering guidance and mentorship to ensure smooth program operations. Work collaboratively with your team to deliver a fun and safe camp experience for all.
● Communication: Maintain open, friendly, and professional relationships with staff, parents, campers, and community members. Ensure clear communication with your supervisor regarding any issues or needs.
● Record Keeping: Assist with maintaining attendance records, participant files, and other documentation.
● Attend Trainings & Meetings: Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other required events.
● Be Flexible & Reliable: Be on time for all shifts and be adaptable to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days if needed.

Qualifications

● Must be 18 years or older.
● Previous experience working with children in a recreational, educational, or leadership role is preferred.
● Provide documentation of 480 hours of experience working directly with school-age children in such areas as Sunday school, Scouts, or sports.
● Become certified or supply documentation of current certification in CPR and First Aid (can be complete through the YMCA).
● Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable.
● Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are encouraged to apply.
● Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative.
● Comfortable leading a variety of camp activities, including outdoor games, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises.
● Strong communication skills with both children and adults.

Posted Salary Range

USD $16.00 - USD $18.00 /Hr.
