Overview

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Properties, the Maintenance Specialist will help beautify, maintain, repair, clean and bolster our picturesque overnight camp nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains near Ward, CO. You'll be part of a team who supports camp by maintaining a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment. From helping to assist other maintenance staff to setting up a program space, you will play a crucial role in keeping camp awesome.

 

Pay Rate: $16.57/hour. This position requires you to live at camp. Room and board are included. Camp staff training begins May 18, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Works alongside 3-4 other Maintenance Specialists and reports to the Senior Director of Properties.
  • Assists in the care and daily maintenance for the camp, including programming equipment, grounds & facility maintenance and construction projects.
  • Ensure that all safety-related projects and needs are completed in a timely manner.
  • Assists the Senior Director of Properties with Colorado state licensing and ACA standards visits as needed.
  • Maintain a professional presence for YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake through appropriate staff and camper interactions and adheres to associations and camp’s codes of conduct.
  • Communicate all issues to the appropriate channels.
  • Be able to take care of on-call emergencies after hours.
  • Attend all required staff meetings on time.
  • Adheres to program standards and expectations throughout the property, including safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Models’ relationship-building skills for campers and staff.
  • Incorporate the mission, philosophy, and 5 core values of the YMCA of Northern Colorado in all communication with participants and staff-members.

Qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Cleared to drive YMCA vehicles with a clean MVR
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Previous relevant experience preferred
  • CPR/AED, First Aid certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date
  • Must have knowledge of basic hand and power tools
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather as needed
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred
  • Must be able to climb ladders of 10 feet or more
