Youth Hockey Director

Develops, organizes and implements high quality youth hockey program(s).  Under direct supervision of the Senior Director of Youth Hockey, the Program Director (PD) assumes responsibility for the daily operations of the Youth Hockey Program for the Association.  This includes supervising, budgeting, developing and implementing YMCA programs and services.  The Program Director participates in Association-wide efforts in order to fulfill the operating objectives of the Association and in accordance with the policies established by the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Northern Colorado.

• Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
• Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
• Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed at all times.
• Maintains regular and timely communications with supervisor, other Y employees, parents, coaches other community members and organizations.
• Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants and community.
• Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community and other relevant organizations.
• Establishes new and expands current hockey program in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
• Purchases and maintains equipment, parts and supplies as needed. Coordinates and schedules equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
• Assists in the development and monitoring of program budget to meet fiscal objectives and takes appropriate action to correct variances. Completes all weekly and monthly paperwork in accordance with association policy.
• Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
• Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints within 24 hours.
• Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
  in program.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• One to two years related experience preferred.
• Requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Maintains applicable ice certifications as necessary (through the Y or other licensing agencies).
• Computer and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
  the community.
