Overview

The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking a massage therapist to join our wellness team. You will support members' overall well-being and contribute to their quality of life. As a YMCA staff member, you'll provide excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

 

The Massage Therapist will apply a range of massage techniques to relieve pain in muscles, soft tissues, and other parts of the body.

 

The salary range is $22.00-32.00 per hour based on experience and education. In addition, we offer a +10% differential for bilingual staff who test as fluent in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Massage Therapy for YMCA members.
  • Develop and propose client treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used
  • Consult with clients about their medical histories and any problems with stress and/or pain in to determine whether massage would be helpful.
  • Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance.
  • Increases participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors.
  • Monitors care and maintenance of all program facilities and equipment with particular concern for the health and safety of participants and ensures repairs are made as needed.
  • Ensure accurate records of massages performed.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures.
  • Conveys basic knowledge of all program areas to members and participants.
  • Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Incorporates the mission, philosophy and core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Current CPR/AED/BBP (within 30 days of hire).
  • Current State of Colorado Massage License.

General Physical Requirements

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Activities List

  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.

Visual Acuity

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Working Conditions

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
  • None: The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
